NaPoWriMo 2019, Day 8

The prompt today is to write a poem inspired by professional jargon. Acute pneumoencephalopathy is British medical jargon for the condition of being an airhead.

Acute Pneumoencephalopathy

He thought a hurricane was a cyclops
because it only had one eye
and wondered why he had never heard
a weeping willow cry.

He refused to eat animal crackers
because he was a vegetarian,
though he used to eat Pepperidge Farm Goldfish
back when he was a pescatarian.

He believed that babies were made
by mixing baby powder with water,
and never understood why
he could never make a son or daughter.

He didn't understand why sunflowers
never gave off heat or light,
and refused to plant tiger lilies
for fear that they would bite.

He assumed that a flight jacket
would enable him to fly.
He jumped from a plane and went splat
when he fell out of the sky. - Jeff Barnes
